Photographer: Elizabeth Allen
Biography: I have a pretty broad mix of experience-I'm a biochemist working as a legal aide, a bead artist and jewelry designer, and I've been taking pictures with a variety of cameras for a long time. I just recently upgraded my digital camera to one with macro capability so I photograph my beadwork and beads. My "mainframe" is a Canon with 70-200mm zoom, 35 mm, 50 mm, and several macro lenses to be able to get close as needed. At the time i bought the macro rings, I was going to Hawaii and wanted to get close to tidepool animals, flowers, cool insects, anything little. Now I want to shoot beads, beadwork, jewelry - the macro is delightful to have. I love the quality of pictures the Canon could take, I don't like the developing, paying for developing, remembering to drop of film or pick it up, keeping track of pictures. With a digital camera I don't have those concerns! and with the right software, it's fun to play with pictures and effects (and to fix the ones with some bad qualities, like red-eye or exposure problems.
